Yelp.com Customer Comments

Customer comments on my service can be found searching Yelp for Express Delivery Van Boston. As part of Yelp’s anti-spam defense, not all comments are shown. For me that’s not so great.

This is a page shot from my Yelp reviews. They show only about a third of the actual reviews I’ve received. Overwhelmingly the reviews are five stars. Without a doubt I have some influence over that because I have asked people to leave a good word, for example the ex-jetfighter pilot in Cambridge who handed me $900 in cash to go pickup a dining set. His is one of the buried reviews you’ll see if you click the filtered link that I’ve circled on the partial screenshot above. You have to submit a captcha form then you see all the reviews.

There are no reviews from creeps who email me saying, “hey, wanna trade reviews?” Keep that in mind, there are individuals who manipulate the system.

I have bad reviews. One of my one star reviews was a seller who was trying to sell a bedroom set sight unseen to a craigslist buyer who sent a check based on his description. The place was a pigsty, the furniture was particle board junk, and the guy was just beyond rude to the point that I put the brakes on. I called the customer, she was able to stop payment, otherwise she would’ve lost over a thousand dollars. The seller was upset. I wasn’t exactly pleased either. Major learning experience.

Another one star review was a young college student trying to buy furniture through craigslist in early September. She wasn’t familiar with the area. She made several requests for prices on various possibilities. When one of them came together she tried to book the job. Unfortunately, a ride to Framingham is not the same to me as a ride across town. Trying to explain away the confusion didn’t work, but I learned a valuable lesson about guestimating prices, don’t do it. I will accept blame because I should’ve been more careful about getting all the facts, and I could’ve been more cordial in attempting to resolve the misunderstanding.

I also have a one star review from Jose, someone I don’t believe I ever met. He claims I never showed but I sure show up spamming craigslist. Competitor? Joker? Who knows. It amuses me that someone will spend their time posting bogus reviews.

I’ve also had disasters that don’t show up on craigslist. Occasionally, someone will buy a piece of furniture that won’t fit through the doorway or accessway into their place. Trust me, I feel their pain. That’s why I ask a lot of questions. I’m not happy unless the customer is happy. I’d rather pass on a job than get involved with something with high potential for surprises because the best surprise is no surprise.

If you check out my reviews, please look at them all. Yelp is a great place to find a mover, just realize that ratings do get buried and the service provider can manipulate the ratings.
